Move from a concept to the matching installation set
Once the capacities and routes make sense, identify the actual equipment models. Gather the construction, electrical, platform, operation and component manuals that apply to those models and revisions. For the supplied Sukup mixed-flow dryer, the pre-installation section addresses wet supply, dry discharge, drainage, utilities and site-specific foundations. Companion platform and control instructions are separate documents. Confirm all required publications with the selected manufacturer.
Confirm model, serial/PIN range, region and installed components. External documents and media are provided by their publishers; Knopp Management is independent of these manufacturers.
Multiply bushels by the selected cfm/bu target to get required airflow. Then choose a fan that can deliver that airflow at the expected static pressure for the crop, depth, floor, transitions and ductwork. Horsepower alone does not establish delivered airflow. Deeper grain generally increases resistance. An aeration target for keeping dry grain in condition is not automatically sufficient for natural-air drying. Use manufacturer fan curves and the correct crop resistance data.
Wet grain accumulates whenever receiving exceeds drying. The planner follows that inventory through the receiving and drying day, then carries any unfinished grain into the next harvest day. A balanced dryer can catch up outside receiving hours. An undersized dryer leaves a growing daily backlog; simply adding a wet bin does not remove that bottleneck. The outage allowance estimates extra volume only. Safe holding time depends on moisture, grain temperature, condition and aeration.
